Narrative Meaning
The Four of Pentacles is a figure sitting rigidly with coins balanced on his head, clutched in his hands, and pinned under his feet — and because of it, he cannot move. This is the card of holding on so tightly to what you have that the grip itself becomes the prison. The city behind him represents the life he could be participating in. He's opted out of it to guard his coins.
